The Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) is a non-profit Academic Research body established in 1989. It’s personnel consists of Academic staff (~80 Professors), 20 senior researchers and more than 500 other researchers/PhD students in 20 research laboratories.
I-SENSE group consists of 17 researchers of various ranks and has extensive expertise in EC Research projects, having participated in more than 35 to date as Coordinator or Technical Manager. The I-SENSE team is associated with the Microwaves and Fibre Optics Laboratory of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA.
Its research topics include: Virtual Reality, Telematics, Computer Vision, Image Processing, Multimedia Technologies, HMI and interfacing technologies, communication networks, sensor technologies and intelligent transportation systems.
In relation to the eVACUATE project, the I-SENSE team has particular experience and its work will be focusing on wireless communication systems, wireless sensor networks design and implementation, gateway design, sensorial prototypes and hyper spectral imaging for crowd behavior recognition/detection.
